Italian Neorealism

Italian Neorealism was a film movement focused on working class and the poor. A lot of the times the actors were not actors but normal people off the streets. The movement was started post world war ii Italy showing everyday life, poverty, injustice and oppression. Furthermore, it was started to oppose the mainstream films including Telefonica Bianchi films.

French New Wave

French new wave, also known as La Nouvelle Vague, is a very important style started in the 1950s - 1950s. The directors which developed this style did it to go against the main stream  films being made. They focused more on current social issues and explored the film form. A noticeable technique in French new wave is jump cuts as well as the actors speaking to the camera or ignoring it.
